Traffic Accidents
If a personal injury has occurred following traffic with a traffic insured motor vehicle, a claims report shall be filed with the vehicle's own insurance company.
If the injury following traffic has occurred due to an uninsured vehicle, an unknown or foreign vehicle the claim for compensation shall be filed with Trafikförsäkringsföreningen, www.tff.se
Under the claims adjustment the insurer of the vehicle can cover the legal fees for assistance of a legal representative / lawyer for the injured victim, due to a special agreement by the insurance industry.
Medical Malpractice
As a patient, you're insured if you suffer a personal injury while in healthcare or dental care. A claims report for injuries sustained in public healthcare shall be filed with the insurer for publicly financed health care providers, Landstingens Ömsesidiga Försäkringsbolag (LÖF), www.lof.se
If you suffer a personal injury in private healthcare, the claims report shall be filed with the insurance company for the privat care provider.
If the care provider lacks insurance, the claims report shall be filed with Patientförsäkringsföreningen, www.pff.se
Drug Injuries
If you have suffered a drug-related personal injury you can hand in a claims report to the Pharmaceutical Insurer, Svenska Läkemedelsförsäkringen AB (SLF) or turn to the pharmaceutical manufacturer directly with a claim according to the Swedish Tort Law or bring court action against the manufacturer according to the Swedish Product Liabilty Act.
Counsel for crime victims
As a victim of crime ("målsägande") you can be entitled to a legal counsel ("målsägandebiträde"), often a lawyer, who will help and support you in the criminal proceedings.
The court appoints the legal counsel and the state will cover the costs for the counsel. You have the possibility to ask for a certain lawyer to be appointed by the court as legal counsel for you. The legal counsel will assist you during police questionings, hearings in court and pursuit your claim for compensation for injuries or damages.
